i recently had a friend ask me "what did you to to get yourself started with yoga?" and honestly I was like hmmm...my response was simple, "I just started going. I went a lot to get started. Just to train myself to get into a routine." (and I quote)
I think in life, you really have to train yourself to get into a new habit or routine. that's why it was so important for me to stick with it once i started; the reason behind me wanting yoga to be apart of my life? simple, it makes me HAPPY. it makes me CENTERED. it makes me feel GROUNDED, yet connected to the UNIVERSE.
you don't have to take 60-90 minute classes to enjoy the benefits of yoga. even a simple 15 minute morning yoga session calms, relaxes and gets you centered. i found this yoga video to be super beneficial on the days when i can't make it to a morning class: https://youtu.be/3Elmwad8XDI
there's so many different yoga videos to choose from these days. it's really whatever you fancy. here's a relaxing night yoga video: https://youtu.be/v7SN-d4qXx0
I started yoga roughly 2 years ago. I started yoga as a way of healing, and maintaining mental clarity. now, almost 2 years later yoga has become a part of my life. following richards passing, i dedicate many of my practices to him. he is the reason i began yoga, he has grounded and given my life such joy and i am forever grateful. without him i do not know where i would be, nor do i think i'd have my awakening in this life.
"everything you need, your strength, courage, compassion and love; everything you need is already within you"
"the nature of yoga is to shine the light of awareness into the darkest corners of the body" jason crandall
“Change is not something that we should fear. Rather, it is something that we should welcome. For without change, nothing in this world would ever grow or blossom, and no one in this world would ever move forward to become the person they’re meant to be.”
“The very heart of yoga practice is ‘abyhasa’ – steady effort in the direction you want to go.”
“Yoga means addition – addition of energy, strength and beauty to body, mind and soul.”
“Most people have no idea how good their body is designed to feel.”
“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”
